SUPER TIDE

Mathew Borrett & Elaine Whittaker

Periodic super tide at Corpus Halite terminal, inner planet of Aquione Eight, hybridized after the great saline disruptions of the late Biotozoic. Filtration Protocols 17-98 and Cousteau Mandates then instituted by decree of the Prime Octo-Council.

THE

INTERVIEW

Red Head Gallery conducted an interstellar interview with the Prime Octo-Council.

RGH: Why are the tides on Aquione Eight so extreme?

POC: The local electro-gravitic environment of the Aquione system is in a highly perturbed state and largely beyond the abilities of the Prime Octo-Council to manage. A sudden unexpected shift in the positions of nearby gas giants caused an increase in tidal forces and shifted Aquiome Eight's polar tilt. The resulting chaotic sloshing of the ocean will take decades to fully subside and is causing immense damage to natural planetary biomes. The Corpus Halite Terminal was born of the necessity to re-salinate the ocean, allowing native lifeforms to regenerate.

RGH: What is the Corpus Halite terminal?

POC: The model for the Corpus Halite terminal was based on preliminary plans in a past collaboration with scientists at the Pelling Laboratory for Augmented Biology (Earth colony Ottawa, Canada). Modified and bio-enhanced for the inner planet of Aquione Eight, it has now become the hybridized standard for Re-salination terminals. Engineered with a regenerative tissue interface, this humanoid model provides filtration, homeostasis, and regulation via dependence on wetware pipelines, storage pods and vascular rectifier turbines.

RGH: Is full restoration of the planet’s environment possible?

POC: No, it is not. Many fundamental changes occurred, some of which may be permanent. A new Aquasphere must generate. We are merely attempting to promote an environment stable enough for something new to evolve, using the geo-engineering tools at our disposal. We will know how it turns out in a century or two. For now, the tidal surfing on Aquione Eight is very good.

PRIME OCTO-COUNCIL MEMBERS

Born on Planet Earth in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, Eniale Rekattihw was originally a visual artist working at the intersection of art, science, medicine, and ecology. Her past aesthetics work can be virtually experienced through BioCortex Implant 55.5 coupled with any of the current Tele-Transmittal portals (avoid substandard Amazonian models as they are unstable). With these you can engage with her past installations, sculptures, paintings, drawings, and digital images in the Earth colonies of Canada, France, Italy, UK, Ireland, Latvia, China, South Korea, Australia, Mexico, and the U.S. Future Immersion and Ambisonic Episodes are pending because she has recently been posted to the Prime Octo-Council of Aquione Eight, serving as the Critical Saline Systems Aesthetics Advisor (CritS2A2).

Wehtam Tterrob emerged as a World Builder early in the digital era on Earth in the nation state of Canada. During the centuries after the Great Stirring, he gradually migrated out through the colonies, often working with the Cydonian Cognoscenti and their various terraforming and mega-art initiatives. After a diversion of several decades working as an irrigation labourer in the mud flats of Beta Gravidge, he grew tired and sequestered himself for two centuries of deep dreaming in the Fungian substrate. Renewed, he projected most of his psyche to the Aquione system, where he embodied in a cluster of research maniple units, eventually joining the remedial project as a member of the Prime Octo-Council.
