The Red Head Gallery initiated collaboration with the contemporary art gallery Kunsthaus Santa Fe to create an exchange between the two venues. Kunsthaus Santa Fe has been invited to exhibit a selection of their artists in Neurotic Playground. In turn, artists from the Redhead Gallery will travel to Mexico in February 2009 to exhibit their work at Kunsthaus' location in San Miguel de Allende, in an exhibition entitled Deviant Detours.

Such and exchange attempts to bridge the gap between artistic communities that exist in different countries. As artists, we tend to reflect on issues that surround our immediate environment and question or bring to light ideas that affect us. However, it is inevitable that we reach a wall and then begin to search for a new route for inspiration, creation and ultimately the dissemination of our ideas. The exchange with Kunsthaus Santa Fe in one way allows artists a path to present ideas, and on the other provides a throughway for encountering a new audience to enter into discussion with, share our thoughts and also experiment, all with the intention of learning.

As a collective, we are excited by how this outlet can help us achieve our outreach goals both locally and internationally, as the exchange provides opportunities for our members to exhibit before a new audience and create potential links with these visiting artists. It is our long-term goal to create a program that would initiate cultural and artistic exchanges with other art organizations internationally. It is also a moment to participate in the discourse between two different cultural sectors, artists and the public at large.
